Inspired by the beautiful riven surface of worn wood.

Many years ago when beach combing on a sandy beach in the north of
Denmark, I came across a plank of Douglas fir that had been etched and worn during its journey and
bleached almost white by the sun. I rescued this plank and sanded the surface until it was silky
smooth but with the most beautiful undulating riven surface along the grain of the wood. This old
plank spoke volumes about how nature and time can craft the most beautiful and natural surfaces.
